a weekend in the rocky mountains | el toros & sage bistro


this past weekend we decided to upgrade our regular sunday mountain excursion to a full weekend getaway and extended the invitation to have my parents join in the fun.

saturday we toured around banff, went for a long walk along the river, spent some time at the castle known as the fairmont banff springs, dined on chateaubriand & red wine @ el toros, and ended the night soaking in luxury at the hot springs.

sunday, all 6 of us, put on skis and took to norquay to carve some fresh tracks on the hillside.  the weather was perfect, my legs didn't fail me, and we spent some solid quality time as a family.  it was perfect.





 el toro salad |  baby greens, diced beetroot, candied pecans, goat cheese, balsamic vinaigrette

caesar salad |  romaine lettuce, toasted croutons, smoked bacon, homemade dressing, parmesan cheese

 chateaubriand for four |  choice of soup or salad to start, 32 oz beef tenderloin, vegetables, roasted potatoes, bĂ©arnaise space, served au jus and carved table side


following an action packed day on the hill, we headed in to canmore for a late lunch/early dinner feast at sage bistro; 
my dads suggestion and one of the restaurants on my progressive dinner tour scheduled for next month at the Canmore Uncorked.
if lunch yesterday was any indication for what i can expect at dinner, mr handsome and i are in for another great meal.
