kitchen tip: how to blanch almonds
for those unfamiliar with the term, a blanched almond is essentially a raw almond with the skin removed.
rather than rush out to the store to buy this fancy variety, i'm saving a step and blanching them myself. luckily the process to do so is simple, so as not to overexert myself.
how to blanch almonds
bring a small pot of water to a boil.
add in raw unsalted almonds and allow to boil for 1 minute.
drain immediately and rinse under cold water, drain again.
pat dry and slip the skins off.
