Candied Pecans
If certain foods were illegal for tasting so good, then candied pecans would be a prime offender. But because no such crazy food law exists, it's safe to say these will continue to be eaten in far too large of quantities in the next day or two with zero penalties (aside from slightly tighter pants.)
Candied pecans have to be one of my favourite salad toppings EVER. However, they are also extremely good in oatmeal, oh and of course, 'by the handful.' They are also the one nut I associate with Thanksgiving. Perhaps it has to do with pecan pie, or how lovely they are with sweet potatoes, either way I love them. #nutsfornuts #almostthanksgiving
1/2 cup halved pecans
4 Tbsp granulated sugar
4 Tbsp water
Method:
Place pecans, sugar and water in small saucepan set on medium heat. Stir to dissolve sugar.
Simmer mixture, stirring occasionally, until golden and pecans are coated, about 5-7 minutes.
Transfer to parchment lined baking sheet to cool.
yields: 1/2 cup
