a saturday stroll to mercato foods & yann haute patisserie

my love affair with weekends continues  and this time i'm merging two cuisines into one fantastic afternoon.

it's not often i make it downtown on a weekend afternoon but, today i carved out time to accomplish just that.

trolling down fourth street i headed to mercato foods @ 2224 4th st sw in search of fresh ingredients for tonights italian dinner feast.

fresh raditore pasta

cherry tomatoes

garlic

red onions

olive oil

chorizo

baguettes

piccante brushchetta

some of my favourite meals come together best when the ingredients are minimal, fresh, and served along with bread, wine & good company.


bruschetta piccante |  tomatoes, olive oil, jalapeño peppers, basil, garlic, salt, spices

chorizo & blistered cherry tomato raditore | red onion, garlic, olive oil, white wine, fresh herbs, parmesan cheese

of course no trip down fourth street is complete without a stop at yann haute patisserie located @ 329 23 ave sw where it's customary to pick up at least seven macarons, eating two immediately after you buy them.
