Apple Pie Cinnamon Roll Casserole
make ahead breakfast casseroles are my jam for any christmas morning, heck any morning. between opening presents, assembling toys, finishing a puzzle, anything i can do to make life simpler, sign me up please.
i ended up prepping this beauty the night before so christmas morning was an absolute breeze. it bakes while you are opening presents, enjoying a baileys and coffee, and collecting all the wrapping paper while figuring out how you tell the kids "no we don't have batteries"

Apple Pie Cinnamon Roll Casserole
ingredients:
1/2 cup sugar
1 tsp cinnamon
2 cans pillsbury grands flaky cinnamon rolls
1/4 cup butter, melted
1 cup apple pie filling
pomegranates for garnish
method:
spray 9 x 13-inch baking dish with cooking spray.
in large ziplock bag mix together cinnamon and sugar.
separate dough into 10 rolls, cutting each roll into 6 pieces. place in bowl and drizzle with melted butter.
in two separate batches place cut up cinnamon roll pieces in the ziplock bag with sugar mixture, tossing to coat.
add to prepared baking dish. cover and refrigerate overnight. (place icing in the fridge to use for later)
heat oven to 350F
in small bowl add pie filling. cut apples into bite sized pieces.
drop by the tablespoon over the dough.
bake for 30-32 minutes (covering with foil if browning too quickly)
allow to cool for 10 minutes.
microwave icing for 15 seconds. drizzle on top of casserole.
