ingredients:

1 sleeve (approx 40) soda crackers, unsalted

1 cup brown sugar

1 cup butter

300g semi-sweet chocolate chips

2/3 cup walnuts, chopped (or mini m&ms for a festive flair)

method:

preheat oven 400F. 

line 13 x 9 cookie sheet with foil.  arrange crackers in a single layer, breaking to fit where necessary.  set aside.

in saucepan over medium heat, melt butter and sugar.  stir and cook until mixture reaches a boil.  remove from heat and pour over crackers.

bake for 5 minutes.  remove from oven and sprinkle with chocolate chips.  allow chips to soften for 2-3 minutes and spread evenly with spatula.  top with nuts (or m&ms).

transfer baking sheet to refrigerator to cool, approximately 1 hour.  break into pieces.

store in air tight container.
